DESY has established a powerful configuration management solution for the construction of the European XFEL. It tracks the status and location of accelerator components during fabrication and installation, and it contains workflows for reviews, change control and the handling of non-conformities. It provides extensive progress monitoring and reporting for the production and installation of accelerator components. This way, it collects on-the-fly a comprehensive documentation of the accelerator, which serves as a thorough foundation for asset and maintenance management during the upcoming operation. The poster gives an overview of the application and summarizes its status, benefits and experience.

In the FREIA laboratory at Uppsala University we test the super-conducting spoke-cavities for the European Spallation Source. Liquid Helium for cooling the cavities is provided by a liquefaction plant from which also a local user community at the University is served. Recently we encountered a leak due to a faulty valve which went undetected for some time and caused significant loss of Helium. In order to prevent such mishaps in the future we implemented a Helium tracking system that includes detailed accounting of Helium leaving and entering the closed system as well as all volumes containing Helium in the system. We describe the technical implementation and experience to date.

The rigorous process in place at CERN to approve and follow-up the implementation of any modification of the LHC machine and its Injectors is presented in this paper. Our methodology implies the support of three teams, in charge of the configuration management, the scheduling and safety coordination, and the 3D integration studies. At each stage of the project the support of the three teams evolves, to provide the adequate support in the preparation phase and during the technical stops and long shutdowns. The formal roles and the processes used to govern the interaction of the Integration, Configuration and Coordination teams, and their relation to the project teams during the preparation and implementation phases, for activities to be performed in LHC and its injector chain are described and discussed.

The online model of the LHC aims to provide an accurate description of the machine at any given time. In order to do so it extracts the current optics in the machine along with other crucial parameters. It also provides the functionality to match the measured orbit using virtual correctors and the measured beta functions using virtual quadrupoles. In this way an accurate effective model can be created. In order to facilitate the use of the online model a graphical user interface has been developed. In this article we describe the design of the online model and its application in different studies. We give examples how it has been used to predict the influence of changes before they were applied to the machine.

The goal of web-based user interface is to create a user interface which makes it easy and efficient to operate the KOMAC facility. A web-based user interface for a beam status monitoring of the KOMAC 100 MeV linac and beam lines has been developed with accessing Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) Channel Access (CA) protocol and relational database. Web service is combined with EPICS CA protocol. As a result, a beam operator and user can monitor the beam status in real time by using a web browser of remote PC or wireless device. In this paper, we are describing the implementation of web-based user interface for a beam status monitoring of the KOMAC proton linac.

To quickly find the causes of the accelerator unstable or lost beam caused by magnet power supply in the Beijing Electron Positron Collider running, this set of rapid detection system for magnet power supply is developed. The stability of the system in 8 hours is about 0.005%, it can acquire over nearly 500 sets of magnet power supply current value most quickly in the 0.33ms time. All data is written to the MySQL database in real time,So as to be able to quickly troubleshoot magnet power supply problem through historical data analysis of database comparison.

Scientific and effective management of power supplies could reduce the failure rate and improve the efficiency of the heavy ion accelerator. This paper shows how to introduce data mining into the intelligent management of heavy ion accelerator power supplies. A web site platform was developed to collect raw data. The raw data includes many kinds of information about one power supply's life cycle form its development to operation. Among which the failure records are particularly important. According to the attribute that the records are mostly nominal data, R software and SQL Server 2008 Business Intelligence Development Studio were chose as mining tools. R soft-ware was used to carry on the statistical characteristic analysis and SQL Server 2008 Business Intelligence Development Studio was used to find out association rules. Useful conclusions have been drawn. This work has laid a solid foundation to further establish the intelligent management system of heavy ion accelerator power supplies.

Machine operation parameters and interruptions to user beam at Taiwan Light Source (TLS) and Taiwan Photon Source (TPS) are recorded in databases. The data retrieve to TLS uses the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) with two separated databases 10 Hz and 0.1 Hz for quick or detail data analysis options. TPS data storage uses the open source database PostgreSQL. A statistical analysis package HISTORY has been writ-ten in Microsoft Visual C to perform operation monitor-ing and data mining. Operation and failure statistics func-tions are produced for performance evaluation and User Administration & Promotion Office user time statistics.

The goal of data acquisition system is to provide an efficient user interface to analyze operating condition of the KOMAC linac. The KOMAC control system which is based on Experimental physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) has been monitoring and archiving the operating condition using Channel Access (CA) protocol. A data acquisition system has been developed with Qt framework that accesses EPICS IOCS and MySQL database via EPICS CA protocol. The data acquisition system provides calibrated data and efficient function to analyze data easily. In this paper, we are describing the implementation of data acquisition system for operating condition in the 100-MeV proton linac.

Reliability has been identified as a key factor limiting the development of certain particle accelerator applications, for example Accelerator-Driven Systems (ADS) for energy production and waste-transmutation*. Previous studies of particle accelerator reliability have been undertaken using conventional techniques, such as Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), etc. Although limited data surrounding components and their failure modes limits the applicability of conventional techniques for analysing the reliability of particle accelerators. In addition industrial applications of particle accelerators, i.e. energy production, require a real time response to failure. In this paper we examine a holistic approach to accelerator reliability modelling using Electric Network Frequency (ENF) criterion to look for emergent behaviour of the particle accelerator, from complex datasets, such as beam current/charge, created by the diagnostics systems during the machines operation. To look for predictive characteristics just prior to a machine trip.

A data analysis framework has been developed to perform systematic queries and automatic analysis of the large amount of data produced by the LHC beam loss monitoring system. The framework is used to provide continuous system supervision and can give advance warning of any potential system failures. It is also used to facilitate LHC beam loss analysis for determining the critical beam-abort threshold values. This paper describes the functionality of the framework and the results achieved from the analysis.
