Conceptual Design of the Power Supply and Energy Extraction System for CBM Detector Superconductive Solenoid (FAIR)
In the scope of the FAIR project (GSI, Germany) Budker INP develops CBM detector including a superconducting solenoid with the power supply and energy extraction system in case of quench. This article presents a conceptual design of a precision switch-mode power supply with the output current range from 0 to 1000A and an output voltage up to 12V. A key aspect of the main superconducting magnet, which the CBM detector is based on, will be its high nonlinear inductivity up to 20H. It imposes a certain degree of complexity to the control system of the power supply. A quench protection and energy extraction system for stored energy of 5MJ is also described.

Conceptual Design of the Power Supply and Energy Extraction System for PANDA Detector Superconductive Solenoid (FAIR)
In the scope of the FAIR project (GSI, Germany) Budker INP develops PANDA detector including a superconducting solenoid with the power supply and energy extraction system in case of quench. This article presents a conceptual design of a precision switch-mode power supply with the output current range from 0 to 5100A and an output voltage up to 12V. A key aspect of the power supply is the fact that it will be consisted of five independent paralleled power supplies with common control and feedback systems and overall loop of interlocks. A quench protection and energy extraction system for the stored energy of 20MJ is also described.
