Why We Do Not Accept Author-Generated PDFs

  • V.RW. Schaa
    GSI, Darmstadt, Germany

Why we don't accept author-generated PDFs and what could go wrong if we do?

What is the reasoning not to accept PDF files from authors? Don't we have tools available now which can help us to overcome this restriction as more authors have problems to produce acceptable PostScript files. The time seems fit for a change of policy as the authors now seem more at ease generating PDF files.

What are the advantages and the possible draw-backs of accepting PDFs, and how does the workflow look like?
