They become much more complicated as high intensity ion accelerators may experience severe space charge effects, etc., and employ complicated beam manipulations like bunch merging, etc. A new high performance simulation code, called CISP-GPU, is developed to simulate all these collective instabilities and their coupling effects with other dynamics, aiming at higher precision and more comprehensive mapping between simulations and practical machines. The code has been applied successfully to collective instability studies, including transverse coupled bunch instability, transverse mode coupling instability, etc., in the booster ring (BRing) of High Intensity Heavy-ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF), which shows many harmful effects. Stabilization methods via adjusting chromaticity and a wideband feedback system are also researched to ensure high beam intensity and excellent beam quality in the BRing. Some new instabilities like asymmetric coupled bunch instability in bunch merging are also identified in the BRing. In the future, more studies on high intensity coupling effects will be carried out.
