Beam Position Monitoring Challenges and Techniques for Recent and Future Lightsources
|
||
Stable orbit of the electron beam is of paramount importance for the new low-emittance MBA synchrotron machines. Within many influencing factors, stability of the beam position readout system is one of the largest contributors to overall performance. New machines and future upgrades tend to implement various stabilization techniques that rely on environmental temperature stabilization and pilot tone injection as well as mixing between the channels in the processor module or closer to the BPM pickups. Stabilization approaches, technology used and performance requirements and results from beam tests are discussed in this paper.
