The development of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) materials, namely the appearance of second-generation HTS tapes, opens up new opportunities for the use of superconductivity in high-energy physics devices and, in particular, in charged particle accelerators. In this paper, we study the effect of an unclosed magnetic shield from a second-generation HTS tape on the dynamics of a beam of charged particles moving along its axis. Within the framework of the simplest model of interaction of the magnetic field of a charged particle beam with a superconducting shield, such an effect is estimated. The superconducting shield shifts the beam of charged particles to its axis. In particular, a beam of particles with energy of 100 KEV and a current of 300mA passing at a distance of 15 mm from the axis of the superconducting shield with a radius of 20 mm and a length of 1 meter is shifted to the axis of the shield at a speed of about 50 mm/sec. The possibilities of using an open superconducting shield for the compression of a charged particle beam, as well as the possibility of controlling the shield, are discussed.
