Novel experiments to study fundamental properties of high-energy-density states in matter generated by intense heavy ion beams will be carried out by the HED@FAIR collaboration at FAIR. For strong transverse focusing a special final focus system consisted of four superconducting large-aperture high-gradient quadrupole magnets will be installed at the end of the HED@FAIR beam line. Design and main characteristics of the quadrupole are discussed. Stress - strain dependence of the quadrupole superconducting cable and electrical strength of the cable insulation are measured. Results of mechanical and thermal calculation of main parts of the quadrupole are presented.

Superconducting wide aperture high gradient quadrupoles for final focusing system of the HEDgeFAIR beamline are developed in fame of the collaboration between FAIR and NRC "Kurchatov Institute" - IHEP. Before the shipment to FAIR all manufactured quadrupoles are need to pass Factory Acceptance Tests including cold tests to ensure that they are complied with specifications. Test facility for cold test of these quadrupoles is created at NRC "Kurchatov Institute" - IHEP. This presentation gives information about design and main characteristics of the test facility.
