A perspective method for creating such cathodes is implanting alkaline and alkaline earth metals into carbon structures in order to lower the work function*. In our research, the goal was to refine the technology for creating a composite, in which graphite and emission active elements form an intercalated compound**, where molecular layers of graphite alternate with molecular layers of barium, strontium and calcium, and these materials' oxides are concentrated inside interlayer caverns. To achieve this, a mixture of fine grained pyrolytic graphite and triple carbonate of alkaline earth metals (Ba, Sr, Ca) CO3 is pressed together without binder compound at different pressure. The specimens 2x1x1 mm are obtained in result. A composite material is obtained as a result of this research, and the work range of processing pressures allowing to create cathodes from such a material, is determined.
