AB - A notation of an effective spectral width is introduced in the theory of synchrotron radiation, as an exact quantitative characteristic of the spectral properties. Within a classical theory, numerical calculations of the effective spectral width for polarization components of the synchrotron radiation have been carried out (for an effective width exceeding 100 harmonics). It is found how the effective spectral width and the initial harmonic change depending on the energy of the radiating particle.
