Recently, caustic formation in electron trajectories was identified as a mechanism describing current modulations in accelerated particle beams. Here we consider CSR-induced microbunching as a caustic phenomenon. This analysis reports on the influence of longitudinal dispersion, R56, on the microbunching process, as well as elucidating the influence of the second and third order longitudinal dispersion values, T566 and U5666.
