WG233 | What are Good Beam Stabilization Strategies and their Limits for Light Source ERLs? | |
|
||
Funding: This work was supported by the U. S. Department of Energy under Contract DE-AC02-05CH11231. Extremely good beam stability is one of the major features of current storage ring based third generation light sources and for several types of experiments, stability is a more important merit function than brightness or flux. With the smaller emittances envisioned in future ERLs as well as the fundamentally different challenges of a non storage ring, stabilization strategies for ERLs cannot simply copy existing schems from 3rd generation sources but have to evolve beyond the current state of the art. They wil also have to include the full accelerator system starting with the gun laser system. |
