Although metallic beam production is tricky, based on our earlier study, intense uranium beams can be expected when operating a electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion source especially in afterglow mode. In this study, we aim to produce intense uranium beams with LECR4 and SECRAL-II (Superconducting ECR ion source with Advanced design in Lanzhou No. II) ion sources in afterglow modes.
