Typically, it includes 1-3 solenoidal lenses for focusing and relies on transport dynamics with nearly complete beam space charge neutralization over the entire length of the LEBT. In this paper, we discuss the possibility and rationality of imposing un-neutralized transport in the portion of the LEBT adjacent to the RFQ. For estimations, we will use the parameters from PXIE, a test accelerator presently being constructed at Fermilab.
