In order to expand the capability and capacity of the LCLS, LCLS-II has been planned and funded by the Department of Energy. The Advanced Photon Source (APS) at Argonne National Laboratory is tasked with building the prototype of the LCLS-II undulator based on the concept of magnetic force dynamic compensation. The control system for the prototype is responsible for four motion and feedback channels with sub-micron-level accuracy, eight load cells that monitor the forces that act on the system in real time, and multiple temperature sensors. A detailed description of the control system and its operation is reported.
