TI - Diagnostics of and with Laser-Induced Energy Modulation at the DELTA Storage Ring J2 - Proc. of IBIC2014 AB - DELTA is a 1.5-GeV electron storage ring operated by the Center for Synchrotron Radiation at the TU Dortmund University. An interaction between electron bunches and femtosecond laser pulses is routinely used to generate ultrashort pulses of coherent synchrotron radiation at harmonics of the laser wavelength (coherent harmonic generation, CHG) as well as short and coherent pulses in the THz regime. The paper describes diagnostics methods to optimize the laser-electron overlap and to characterize the generated VUV and THz pulses. Furthermore, the laser-electron interaction can be employed as a beam diagnostics tool, e.g. to study the longitudinal steady-state bunch profile as well as dynamic properties during RF-phase modulation, which is applied to improve the beam lifetime.
