  A tutorial on coherence is presented. The question is asked “what is coherence, how do you get it, and what can you do with it?” Common examples of coherence and expectations are discussed with examples from marching bands to global interactions. A TEM visible light laser is separated into its component parts, and then reconstructed, to better understand the emergence of spatial and temporal coherence from noise. Coherent clapping at a football match serves as an introduction to the emergence of coherence in a SASE EUV/x-ray FEL. Young’s double slit (pinhole) technique is used to illustrate interference and phase coherence with applications to undulator radiation, spatially filtered undulator radiation, SASE FELs, and seeded FELs. A few examples are cited.
